They say Jimi Hendrix could make a guitar sound like a highway at midnight.
But there’s another story that old bikers like to tell.
One summer night, somewhere between a gig and nowhere in particular, Jimi was seen leaving a roadside bar with a motorcycle he supposedly didn’t own.
Nobody knew where he was going.
He just smiled, strapped his guitar across his back and disappeared into the darkness.
A few miles down the road, the bike broke down.
Jimi pulled over, sat on the roadside and lit a cigarette.
There was nothing around him.
No lights. No cars.
Just the sound of the engine cooling down and the distant hum of the night.
Then someone passing by swears they saw something strange.
Purple smoke began rising from the asphalt.
It curled around Jimi’s boots, crossed the road and stretched into the distance like a glowing highway.
Jimi looked at it, picked up his guitar and started playing.
The smoke moved with every note.
Some say he played for ten minutes.
Others swear it was all night.
By sunrise, the motorcycle was running again.
Jimi climbed on, put his guitar over his shoulder and followed the purple road until it disappeared into the morning light.
Nobody knows where it took him.
